An award-winning VR app that makes interior design approachable for non-experts

The Project

VisionDesigner is a virtual-reality application that simplifies interior design for non-experts: walk your own space, see furniture and finishes in place, get personalized suggestions, and buy without leaving the headset. It was a 10-week team project from my M.A. at SCAD, built with lead designer Maithilee Ranjeet Natu, Jayshree Ravichandran, and Sneha Subramanyan.

Process

We worked from research to spatial prototype: user flows, environment sketches, a full style guide, and interface patterns designed for presence rather than screens. Panels stay glanceable, manipulation is direct, and suggestions remain anchored in the room the person is actually standing in.

Recognition

VisionDesigner earned three 2025 Indigo Design Awards: Gold for UX, Interface & Navigation, Gold for Virtual Reality Design, and Silver for Interactive Design. It anchors the immersive-interface thread of my current work: how 3D and spatial patterns can support human decision-making.
