Challenge
Sony wanted MLB The Show, PlayStation's flagship baseball franchise, to live beyond the console: a prepaid Mastercard fans could carry, brand-true down to the transaction history. On Netspend's white-label platform, that meant reconciling two design systems that had never met, a AAA game's brand world and a regulated banking product's flows.
Approach
I designed the cardholder app experience under The Show's brand: Face ID login, balances and transactions, sending money to family and friends, and reload locations. Netspend's proven prepaid flows stayed intact beneath a completely different visual system, and the same screens had to satisfy Sony's brand standards, Mastercard's requirements, and banking compliance at once.
Impact
The MLB The Show prepaid Mastercard shipped on iOS and Android branded for The Show 20, extending a PlayStation franchise into its fans' daily spending. For the platform it was proof the white-label system could stretch from convenience stores to a AAA game brand without breaking, the same design system flexing across worlds that share nothing but the rails underneath.
